It’s entirely up to you whatever colour palette you pick and how you utilise it on your Christmas sugar cookies. Some folks want a certain color scheme to complement their holiday decorations. Some folks prefer covering the cookies in crystals rather than frosting them.

Tips for Baking Christmas Cookies
- Cut forms as near together as possible: When cutting out cookie shapes, make your cuts as close together as possible to extract the most cookies from the surface of the rolled-out dough. When cutting, always work on a floured and sugared surface.
- Dip cookie cutters in flour: After each cut, dipping the cookie cutter in flour will help the dough release more readily from the cookie cutter. Cookies Recipe Christmas
- Bake longer for crisper cookies: If you want your cookies crisper than soft, simply bake them for a few minutes longer, until they are slightly brown around the edges.
- Allow cookies to sit for a minute or two after baking: After baking, allow the cookies to stay on the cookie sheet for a minute or two before attempting to remove them. This allows the cookies to gradually firm up while keeping the forms intact. After removing the cooled cookies from the baking pans, cool them on wire racks for at least 5-10 minutes.

- Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F (fan 160°C). 2 baking pans, lined with parchment paper
- In a large mixing basin, cream together the butter and sugar (1 minute on speed 5)
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well mixed.
- Mix in the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Begin gently, then beat until the flour is combined – the mixture will be clumpy.
- Flour the work surface and scrape the dough from the bowl. Pat the mixture together, then split it in half and form it into two discs.
- Roll out the dough to 0.3cm / 1/8″ thickness (for thinner, crispier cookies) or 0.6cm / 1/4″ thickness (for thicker, softer cookies), sprinkling flour beneath and over the dough to prevent sticking.
- Shapes may be cut out with cookie cutters and transferred to baking pans with a knife or spatula. (Refrigerate any dough that does not fit in the oven.)
- Bake for 10 minutes, switching pans halfway through, or until the top is pale golden and the edges are just beginning to become light golden (Note 2).
- Allow cookies to cool fully on the baking sheets (they will finish cooking on the trays).
- The number of cookies produced is determined on the size of the cutouts and the thickness of the dough. It will fill three baking trays.
- Swapping trays midway entails placing both trays in the oven, one in the centre and the other beneath. Switch them around halfway during the baking period, so the tray on the bottom goes to the top shelf and the tray on top goes to the bottom shelf. Because the top shelf bakes quicker than the bottom shelf, this guarantees that they both bake equally.
