Instructions

  1. Take a pressure cooker & heat the ghee.
  2. Add the whole garam masala & when it splutters, add the cumin seeds & bay leaf.
  3. Mix it well & add the chopped tomatoes.
  4. Sauté the tomatoes for 2-3 mins till soft.
  5. Add the cut vegetables, mix well and add salt & turmeric powder.
  6. Mix well & sauté for 3-4 mins.
  7. Drain the water from the Toor Dal & add the dal. Mix and sauté for 2-3 mins.
  8. Now add the slit green chillies and sugar, give a mix & add 600 ml water.
  9. Give a stir & close the pressure cooker. Pressure cook for 2 whistles, 1st one on high heat and 2nd on low heat. Should take around 7-8 mins.
  10. Allow the pressure to release completely before opening the pressure cooker.

Notes

  • You can add little water if required but not much since the consistency of the dal should be thick.
